Starfox 64 3D for 3DS has finally been given an official release date of July 17th, 2011! Although this may be the Japanese date.
Behind the The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D release date and the upcoming release of Kid Icarus: Uprising, Starfox 64 is definitely the most highly anticipated title for the new 3DS system from Nintendo.
That’s despite the fact that the game is another port…
Hopefully Starfox 64 will be given the full remake treatment just like the Ocarina of Time 3D remake which features infinitely enhanced graphical detail and added graphics effects and objects which really bring the game into the modern era. Thankfully Nintendo HAS SAID that they plan to include “new features” not seen in the original Starfox 64 so that bodes well.
Here is the original Nintendo World 2011 trailer for Starfox 64 3D.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo added some kind of online or co-op (let’s hope for four-player campaign co-op!) functionality or a new multiplayer mode. You can also bet that the game will use StreetPass in some form. And of course the game features an updated interface and controls to take advantage of the 3DS.
You can see new footage and the release date (which looks to be Japanese, but hopefully it’s worldwide) at the official Starfox 64 3D web-site.
