Batman: Arkham City will be released on October 18, 2011 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC announced Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, DC Entertainment and developer Rocksteady Studios, who were responsible for the previous game, Batman: Arkham Asylum, which shattered expectations and reinvented the Superhero genre, earning cadres of rewards. Arkham City will hit in Australia and Europe on October 19th and globally on October 21st.

Batman: Arkham City builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum, sending players soaring into Arkham City – five times larger than the game world in Batman: Arkham Asylum – and the new maximum security “home” for all of Gotham City’s thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds. Set inside the heavily fortified walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City, this highly anticipated sequel introduces a brand-new story that draws together a new, all-star cast of classic characters and murderous villains from the Batman universe, as well as a vast range of new and enhanced gameplay features to deliver the ultimate experience as the Dark Knight.

The game promises to remain exactly true to the last game while upping the ante. You’ll start the game off with all of the previous weapons and gadgets along with some new ones to play with, and all of the different detective modes, fighting moves, enemies and the overall cast of characters has been greatly expanded.

No new media for Batman: Arkham City, but here is the old Hugo Strange reveal trailer.
