A new Super Mario Bros. 3DS title is currently in development according to the mouth of Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto himself in a new interview.
This was revealed via a brief comment you may have missed from the latest Iwata Asks interview.
To quote:
“Miyamoto: So, in the interests of adopting new technology for the Super Mario Bros. tradition, I am now making a new Super Mario Bros. game for the Nintendo 3DS system.”
Of course, this will hardly come as a surprise to anyone, considering the extremely huge sales of both New Super Mario Bros. DS and New Super Mario Bros. Wii which continue to sell at phenomenal rates even today.
