Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell Classic HD Trilogy release dates announced for America (PS3)

Splinter Cell Classic HD Trilogy release date is March 22 2011 (PS3)
Americans will be very happy to know that the Prince of Persia Classic Trilogy and Splinter Cell Classic Trilogy will be released exclusively for PS3 in North America on March 22, 2011 for $40 per set.

These collections have been released in other territories so it is good to see Ubisoft finally wising up.

In addition, both sets will be available at stores in hard copy form (that is, on a disc) or available for purchase digitally via the PlayStation Network.

Both sets will have cleaned up graphics for the titles and are remastered in High Definition, and will also include support for stereoscopic 3D. They also will include a host of new Trophies for you to earn, naturally.

The POP set includes: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within and Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones.

The Splinter Cell set includes: Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. Too bad they couldn’t also squeeze in both the last-gen and current-gen versions of Splinter Cell: Double Agent in there… would’ve made the package that much greater!

No idea on what conversions these games are based on, although one would assume PS2 since this is a Sony set, but hopefully they are based on the superior Xbox1 or PC versions, or are remastered entirely so that it doesn’t matter what version was the base.

Do you plan to buy these sets? I plan to get BOTH! 😀
