Ender’s Game videogame from Chair cancelled

Chair has put the Ender’s Game videogame, based on Orson Scott Card’s best-selling influential sci-fi novel, on indefinite hold.

Apparently the reason the game was put on hold (i.e. Cancelled for now) was not a decision made by them, but one made by their publisher, Epic Games.

To quote ChAIR co-founder Donald Mustar,

“We have and had an amazing design for the Ender’s Game game,” Mustard assured, but “one of [parent company] Epic’s primary objectives is to create original and unique franchises. I don’t know that Ender’s Game fits into that strategic objective anymore.”

That will certainly come as a disappointment to some, as it would be interesting to see Chair’s take on the novel. However you have to wonder if perhaps the success of Infinite Blade played into this move somehow, maybe Epic has put them to work on a sequel to that game instead. Hopefully Chair will revisit the Ender’s Game idea down the line.

Here is a fake fan-made Ender’s Game movie trailer.
