And all indications are that this will, once again, become one of the best-selling games of all time. Call of Duty is just unstoppable!
GameStop has revealed that Activision’s newest shooter from Call of Duty: World At War developer Treyarch, has surpassed sales of last year’s monumental hit, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 which went on to sell an astounding 20 million copies worldwide! Modern Warfare 2 also reached 3 million pre-orders before its release.
Update: Activision has confirmed there were 4.5 million pre-orders of Black Ops worldwide, and in the USA and UK alone on the first day sales were 5.6 million!
To quote:
“GameStop is tracking to all-time, record reservations on Call of Duty: Black Ops,” said GameStop SVP of merchandising Bob McKenzie. “We are ahead of where we were with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 last year, which previously set the industry standard.”
Here is the launch trailer for the game which focuses on the Single-Player.
And here is a great new launch commercial for the game which features the LA Lakers 5-Time NBA Champion shooting guard Kobe Bryant and a number of “ordinary” people, from doctor’s to businessman, playing Call of Duty: Black Ops as if they were in a real warzone; as the TV spot flashes to the tagline “There’s A Soldier In All Of Us”.
