Reveal Map
Here is a cheat that will allow you to make the map fully revealed. First though, before you enter the game, go into your Documents or My Documents folder and search for something similar to this: My Games\Sid Meier’s Civilization 5. Then search for the “config.ini” and open it in notepad/wordpad. Now change this line: “DebugPanel = 0” and change it to this: “DebugPanel = 1”. So after changing the zero to a one, save the file. Now when you boot up the game, hit the Tilde key (~) and this should reveal the map if done correctly.
What does the World Age option do under Advanced Options
World Age models the map you will be playing on based on what geologists think the Earth looked like either in the past or in the future (depending on what year you select). So you may get fewer or more continents and/or jungle/rocky terrain, etc.
