PlayStation Phone prototype info leaked?

A PlayStation Phone prototype has been leaked online and reveals a possible design for a future mobile phone that also would apparently play games (PSP Go games?) and uses the same buttons as a PS3 controller.

However Sony has officially commented that the leaked prototype is “definitely fake”. So take all this with a grain of salt.

The system itself looks like a sliding cell phone except that the part that slides out features a D-Pad on the left and the staple PlayStation buttons of Square, Triangle, X and O on the right side. It also features shoulder buttons. A multi-touch pad is also featured in the center, and the device doesn’t have the analog nub of the PSP. The device also lacks a Memory Stick slot but does feature a Micro SD Card slot.

So how powerful is this device? Here are the reported specs:

A 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 processor, 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, and a screen that looks to be between 3.7 to 4.1 inches. The PSP, by comparison, features a 333MHz processor and 32MB of RAM.

A rumor of a PlayStation Phone is not new, back in August it was leaked that an Android-based PlayStation Phone was coming and would have it’s own section of the Android marketplace; But these more “concrete” details and pictures are new.

The handheld above will reportedly be that device revealed in August, an Android phone featuring the Android 3.0 operating system (dubbed “Gingerbread”) and will feature a custom Sony Marketplace from which to download games and Apps. These games won’t however reportedly be PSP Go or PlayStation Network titles, but new ones.

So what do you think? Is this device real? Is it coming in 2011? Are you excited for it?
