X-Men: Destiny has been announced as an all-new videogame for unspecified systems coming from publisher Activision and long-dormant developer Silicon Knights, whose last ambitious game – Too Human – failed to sell well.

Very little about the name is known, including genre except that it will be an “action” game of some sort. Likely an open-world style where choices and consequences to players actions will effect the world.

Then again, the teaser trailer also makes the game sound like it may be an MMO (though more likely not).

“The all-new original videogame casts players as new mutant recruits in a rich, branching storyline that features a deep element of choice and gives players ultimate control of their destiny.”

What is known is that the game’s script is being penned by Mike Carey who wrote for various X-Men Graphic Novels. It’s also known that the game will include characters such as Cyclops, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, Magneto, Storm and Wolverine.
