Wii Remote Plus announced. Includes WiiMotionPlus built-in instead of as an attachment

Wii Remote Plus announced by Nintendo at N 2010 conference
Nintendo announced the Wii Remote Plus officially at their N 2010 Press Conference in Japan.

Along with all of the awesome DS news, Nintendo saw it as a fitting place to unveil their newest iteration of the Nintendo Wii Remote.

The Wii Remote Plus is essentially a regular Wii Remote with the Wii MotionPlus accessory built right into it. No longer will you have to have that annoying attachment clicked into the end. This will make everything much more convenient.

Pricing and release date details were not announced, although a GameStop listing prematurely revealed the upcoming controller ahead of the official announcement, and had the Wii Remote Plus BUNDLED with the Flingsmash Nintendo game. Nintendo loves their bundles which have sold like hotcakes (see: WiiPlay, Wii Sports Resort+Wii MotionPlus, Wii Fit Plus and Link’s Crossbow Training and the upcoming WiiParty) so this only makes sense.

Although GameStop has since pulled the retail listing, which had a release date of November 2010 for the Wii Remote Plus/Flingsmash bundle. But hopefully we’ll get solid details soon.

While Nintendo says this new Wii Remote model is for the conveniance of users (which it no doubt is), it’s also pretty obvious that Nintendo is hoping to help blunt some of the thunder away from Microsoft’s Kinect and Sony’s Move, which are the new motion controllers on the block. And this will make the Wii at least look less outdated.

Will you be buying a Wii Remote Plus this holiday?
