A whole freakin’ SLEW of new 3DS games were announced at Nintendo’s “N 2010” press conference in Japan.

The biggest announcements with the most details available come from Capcom, who revealed two all new titles.

Resident Evil: Mercenaries
This brand-new RE game, the second for the 3DS on top of the previously announced Resident Evil Revelations, combines the popular “Mercenaries” mini-games from Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5 into a whole, legit title; And expands on them with all-new modes and new characters taken from other Resident Evil games! Characters shown included Chris, Jill and Hunk. The game will include online co-op gameplay (Yes!) over the 3DS wi-fi connection which will allow you to play online “regardless of location.” Whatever that means . . . cross-country play? While the game on 3DS definitely looks impressive, it should be noted that it’s not quite on par with the Xbox 360 and PS3 graphics for Resident Evil 5. But, uhhh, that’s to be expected right. Hella awesome announcement!

Mega Man Legends 3
Capcom also announced Mega Man Legends 3! Officially titled “Mega Man Legends 3: Project”, the game will be an unprecedented collaboration with fans who will be able to shape the development of the upcoming sequel to the PS1 classics! Exactly how this will work was not revealed, but this is huge news nonetheless. No other details announced but we’ll be sure to learn more as next year approaches!

Driver 3D, Ghost Recon Tactics, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory 3D
Ubisoft also revealed a number of new or confirmed titles (some of these were already known), but details weren’t announced, just screens. The new titles include: Driver 3D, Battle of Giants: Dinosaur Strike, Ghost Recon Tactics and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory 3D. Obviously the last title will be a faithful port of the 3rd Splinter Cell game previously released on PS2, GameCube and Xbox1.

Super Monkey Ball 3DS
For Sega’s part, they are planning SIX 3DS titles, although only two are known. One of them is a Sonic game (Sonic Colors?) the other is the newly announced Super Monkey Ball 3DS. Super Monkey Ball on 3DS will include the ability to play the game by either using touch-screen controls, or tilting the system which takes advantage of the built-in gyro mechanisms of the 3DS handheld. You’ll also get wireless four-player support including Monkey Race and Monkey Fight. No word if online will be supported.

Tales of the Abyss 3DS
Last but not least, Namco Bandai has revealed that they are porting the 2005 PS2 RPG, Tales of the Abyss, to the 3DS! It will be released in 2011, although no other details were revealed. As you’d expect though, the game looks just like the PS2 version.

Here are tons of screenshots from many of the games listed above.
