The 2nd Enslaved developer diary, “A Symbiotic Relationship”, discusses the single-player tactical teamwork that players will need to manage as they have main characters Monkey (strong male) and Trip (smart, agile female) cooperate to complete the adventure.
The game is full of puzzles to solve and dangerous mechs to fight, and you’ll have to use the innate abilities of each character in order to get through alive. Monkey is able to throw Trip to higher areas and battle enemies, whereas Trip can locate the weaknesses of said enemies which boost Monkey’s abilities if he takes advantage of said weakness; To, for example, use a mech’s arm as a weapon, and Trip is able to use her smarts to hack computers and help in strategy.
Even though this is a tired concept that’s been done a million times before (yet they talk as if it’s a brand new idea), the game is done with such a high level of polish from such an able developer (Ninja Theory, the creators of the PS3 title Heavenly Sword) that it still looks awesome. I’m definitely looking forward to this one.
Here is the latest developer diary. The Enslaved: Odyssey to the West release date is October 5, 2010 for Xbox 360 and PS3.
