All Halo Reach beta equipment and points earned to be erased upon launch

If you’re playing Halo Reach already, or have been participating in the beta since it started, then be sure to take pains not to get attached to your equipment.

Bungie has stated that the point system as well as all acquired equipment will be completely erased upon the game’s launch on September 14th.

As you can probably guess, the reason for this resetting is to make sure that the playing field is level when the game actually hits retail.

Bungie also expects that much cheating and use of unauthorized copies of the game (or copies received early by retailers) has interfered with things, so it’s safe to just reset it all.

To quote:

“Don’t get too attached to any fancy new gear you might have already acquired. Consider any expenditures or investments you’ve made in the Armory the cost of doing business early. It’s nothing personal; we just want to make sure the playing field is kept nice and level upon launch. It’s only fair,” said Bungie’s Eric Osbourne.
