In this Metroid: Other M walkthrough, you’ll see the beginning to ending moments of cutscenes and gameplay for this highly anticipated all-new Metroid title from Team Ninja and Nintendo! Includes tips on how to beat the Ridley and final boss fights.
Metroid: Other M is reminiscent of 2-D side-scrollers, but players can switch the perspective into 3-D at any time as they explore the twisting passages of a derelict space station and delve deep into a cinematic, never-before-told story of bounty hunter Samus Aran’s past.
This new approach uses a new control scheme in which players use the Wii Remote controller held sideways to battle enemies and navigate the expansive, gorgeous environments in classic Metroid fashion, then aim at the screen with the Wii Remote pointer to blast foes in first-person and hunt the world for clues and hidden passages.
Finally we get an ALL-NEW Metroid game that takes the franchise in a new direction that couldn’t be further from what Retro Studios did with the mighty Metroid Prime franchise! At long last we have a game that returns to the side-scrolling, action roots of Metroid while still offering 3D and first-person gameplay! I couldn’t be more excited or pumped for this game! If you are anticipating it, keep your eyes on this page as we update the walkthrough. 🙂

Quick search tip: Find the part of the game you need help with by pressing “CTRL” and the “F” keys on your keyboard at the same time, to search for the level section, item finding, or boss fight you want help with. Now let’s begin!
After answering a Baby’s Cry distress signal from a Bottle Ship derelict space station, Samus Aran enters and finds herself meeting up with her former teammates from the Galactic Federation 07th Platoon.
This purple Bug Mass Monster seems to consist entirely out of beetles, let’s take them apart to beat this boss. Stay clear from its two tentacle arms by jumping a lot. Once Missiles get authorized, you can lock-on and shoot its eye. Soon your buddies will be authorized to use their Ice Beams and you get to shoot the frozen arms with Missiles. You wanna shoot more Missiles? Go ahead! Until he goes down and you gotta blast the main bug to beat him.
After finding their nest, Samus survives attacks by the beelike creatures in Sector 1 and destroys the nest. Samus is dumbfounded by the strange reappearance of the small creature she saw earlier and shortly afterwards receives instructions from Adam to head for the Exam Center.
Samus fights cybernetically enhanced Zebesians and a mystery creature. You can skip the last four minutes, the solution to continuing is that you need to look at the ground for the green puddles.
In the Biosphere Test Area freaky stuff went down. We’re off to Sector 3. — To avoid being killed by the lava monster, try to evade it with a jump, + press in a direction or so.
Finding a Missile Tank. After 2:16 minutes into this video, the? entry way to a second extra Missile Tank was missed. It’s on the ceiling, upper right hand corner.
This is the boss fight with the “lava dragon” called Goyagma. The obvious would to jump to avoid his arms and later his lava eruptions. The glowing red ruby spot on his neck is what you should be targetting with your Ice Beam and then firing a Missile at; later in the fight you can do the same on his hand but then you can use the frozen arm area to walk over and attack him with Overblast. Repeat this last attack three times until he explodes.
“Metroids… Here? Impossible! Metroids can’t tolerate cold temperatures, they couldn’t survive in this environment. Besides, they’re extinct. The baby was the last of its kind…”
After Samus sets out for Sector 3, the Exam Center explodes. Adam then informs Samus that there might be survivors in Sector 2. She finds poor Maurice and realizes she’s being watched. — An Accel Charge is acquired by shooting a rock before entering the building.
The traitor is found. Of course he’s not going to make it easy on us and uses a warehouse lifting robot to throw stuff at us. For starters don’t get backed into a corner. Apparently in a warehouse they need lasers, so avoid the laser sweeps. To kick his metalic butt, you need to use your Ice Beam to shoot the arm joint on each arm (one at a time), and hit the spot you froze with a missile. Next you should freeze the wheels and then shoot a missile at the blue tanks at his top.
Aside from avoiding the fireballs of this “lava whale” called Vorash, you should keep firing a Wave Beam at him whenever he pops his head out of the lava. Once he starts burping rocks at you, right after he finishes that grapple the green crystal from his mouth. Keep firing charged Wave Beams until you wear him thin.
Finally the Super Missiles become active. — The Mystery Creature evolved again. The Ridley Cutscene begins at 8:30 minutes. Anthony is Samus’ buddy telling Ridley not to mess with them: “Hey! Hey punk! Don’t you know how to treat a lady?! Man! You got no style!”
Let’s use the newly unlocked Plasma Beam to fight Ridley. This most powerful beam does more damage and can pass through enemies. Keep moving a safe distance from Ridley’s attacks, while shooting him with charged blasts. Specifically when he does his flameball attack, you need to jump away from it at the very last moment before it would’ve impacted on you. To avoid his tail attacks use Dodge. Whenever he goes dark, you need to lock onto him and shoot a Super Missile. — Watch the video guide for more tips on how to beat Ridley during this epic boss fight.
Another Missile Tank acquired. From here on out we have the Space Jump (lets Samus do consecutive spin jumps) and Screw Attack (sends energy waves out from Samus’s body). “Any objections, Adam?” 😆
“My name is Samus Aran. What’s your name?” — “Madeline… Bergman.” We learn that, in secret on this Bottleship, the Galactic Federation was trying to create a special-forces unit composed of bioweapons modeled after the Space Pirates.
Skip to 4 minutes into the video guide to see you need to scan someone to progress in Room MW.
Oh my god… The Queen Metroid? And the Metroids can only be killed with a Super Missile when frozen… If you get hit by the Queen’s flame, you’re half dead, no matter how many tanks. You’ll know when you’re near the end of this boss fight, when the ship’s emergency brakes fire. If you don’t want to die, then you need to use a Power Bomb when you get inside of her belly via her mouth!
After that fight you get a nice 10 minutes cutscene of the real Madeline Bergman revealing the Galactic Federation’s plans.
We reach Madeline Bergman who explains the AI (Artificial Intelligence) called MB (based on Mother Brain) was named Melissa Bergman. Through her telepathic connection the AI formed a relationship with the baby Metroids (even though it was only meant to control them as weapons), so the Galactic Federation wanted to remove the AI’s emotions forcefully, but that betrayal triggered this whole mess. By the way, did anyone notice that the abbreviation for Metroid Other M is MOM? Food for thought.
You don’t have to kill Melissa’s shield-bug troops. The trick here is to use your Missiles to get them away from you and out of the way long enough so that you can lock onto Melissa. Then the ending cutscene will start.
Think you’re done? Think again! After the ending credits have rolled (on normal mode) you can go back to the Bottle Ship to collect all the missing powerups, and fight an extra boss without any weapons limitations. Awesome!
Get ready for a fight against the biggest boss yet, watch the video to see how Phantoon can be beaten. After that Zero Suit Samus must do a race against the clock, it wouldn’t be a Metroid game without an exploding space station (or planet) after all.
