Dawn of War III is already in the minds of the developers as THQ Core Games president Danny Bilson discussed with Eurogamer.

In the interview he states that developer Relic will begin to work on Dawn of War III once they completely finish up with the Retribution Dawn of War 2 standalone expansion, which is due out early 2011.

By doing some math, he expects that gamers can look forward to getting their hands on Dawn of War 3 between August 2012 and February 2013.

He then went into additional details by saying that Dawn of War 3 could follow a microtransaction-based model like that of Company of Heroes Online, Relic’s free-to-play version of the Company of Heroes RTS.

Although he added, “It all depends on how Company of Heroes Online does, and how it works and how people respond to it.”

He admitted, “We haven’t announced anything about it, and it’s still in its early formative stage, but I’m just talking to you about the brainstorming going on around it [Dawn of War 3],” continuing, “it is going to have a much larger strategic component to it, more of a global battle going on with little tactical things, sort of MMO-like.”
