Welcome to the Castlevania Harmony of Despair walkthrough for the (multiplayer) action-adventure game on Xbox Live Arcade from Konami.

Featuring the classic fast-paced 2D side-scrolling action the series is known for, vampire hunters from across the series will join forces to return Dracula, the Lord of Darkness, to his eternal slumber. The only question you have to ask yourself is: Who will you play as? Alucard, Soma Cruz, Jonathan Morris, Shanoa, or Charlotte Aulin?

Castlevania Harmony of Despair walkthrough: Chapter 1 “Caught in the Cradle of Decay”

This chapter is one of the easiest to complete and navigate around. In the room to the right of where you start, head up towards the left side of this large room. Head down the hallway to the left to get the contents of the chest at the very left. Head back and continue heading upwards and left. Do not go right, you will actually exit out of here later instead. You will come across a few more chests and goodies along the way here as shown in the video.

Once you are descending again, after collecting the chest at the top left most part of the map. Head to the room right of the 3 bells, there is a switch in here that releases the water that is in the room to the right. Continue moving right and heading downwards to where the water released.

Jump out of the water and head to the right again for one last switch. This switch opens a door to the bottom right of the map which gives you a much easier path to the boss, just like I chose to do in the guide video.

Here’s the best way to tackle the first boss fight in Chapter 1.

This boss has several attacks you will need to watch out for:

  • Throughout moving through the map, you will have noticed a laser blast shot to the left side of the map. This is one of the boss’s attacks. When his facial skin folds back, he is beginning this attack so stay underneath him while attacking him repeatedly.
  • Another attack is when he starts sucking in debris, duck close to his feet and hit him repeatedly. Be careful for his bite attack afterwards.
  • When he jumps backwards be ready to double jump over him as he will afterwards dive towards you. Or if he charges you, get close to either side of the walls.
  • Once he breaks the floor, he will use one more attack that he may have already used on you shooting streams out of his neck. Get close to his feet and underneath him when this happens.

    • Man, are these bosses horrifyingly disgusting or what? 😛
