Tekken x Street Fighter and Street Fighter x Capcom have officially been announced! Dropping the series’ VS. moniker in favor of X. Both games were revealed at Comic-Con 2010 by both Namco and Capcom, they have been previously rumored as Capcom VS Namco or Namco VS Capcom.
Falling in line with the rumor is the fact that one game is being developed by Super Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono at Capcom (naturally, that game is called “Street Fighter x Tekken) while the other game is being developed at Namco by Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada (naturally, that game is Tekken x Street Fighter).
The games are being developed for Xbox 360 and PS3 and each will feature a completely unique graphical-style and gameplay style all their own!
The developers then DEMOED Street Fighter x Capcom live. The game is similar to Street Fighter IV complete with side-scrolling gameplay, an ink-based intro with Jin and Ryu and tag-team gameplay. The demo featured Ryu, Jin, Chun-Li and Nina!
However the games are quite far off, and this is only a first look. But very exciting stuff! A Tekken vs Street Fighter game is something that gamers used to only dream of and joke about how cool it would be. But with the renaissance of fighting games, it looks like the time is indeed now.
Here is the first teaser.
