Capcom vs Namco or Namco vs Capcom may be announced at Comic-Con 2010?

Namco vs Capcom games rumored to be revealed at Comic Con 2010
Namco vs Capcom and Capcom vs Namco are two titles rumored to be announced at this weekend’s Comic-Con 2010!

Like with previous releases in the “Versus” series, these games would be tag-team fighting titles. And although it has been a while since the formula has been employed, it sounds like two of them will be made, each with a different style. Just like was done with “Capcom vs SNK” and “SNK vs Capcom”.

So who will be fighting who? Well the game’s haven’t been officially confirmed, but Namco Bandai owns the Tekken and Soul Calibur games (not to mention Pac-Man, Galaga, Dig Dug, Klonoa and many other classics and tons of other modern games they can draw from) whereas Capcom needs no introduction (Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Mega Man, Devil May Cry, etc.).

What will be really interesting is to see if characters from Namco’s 3D fighting series, Tekken and Soul Calibur, will be getting the “2D fighting” treatment. Which is likely to happen, because if two versions are being made, it would only be natural to assume that one version will be made using the Street Fighter 4 engine while Namco’s would be made on the Tekken 6 engine.

Looks like a wait and see, but if this happens expect it to be huge news.
