Dragon Age 2 release date confirmed as March 8, 2011. Officially announced on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC

Dragon Age 2 will be released in America on March 8 and in Europe on March 11 of 2011 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC announced developer BioWare at GamesCom 2010.

The game’s main character is named Hawke. A survivor of the Blight and a “penniless refugee”, the story follows his rise to power and details how he “becomes the single most important character in the world of Dragon Age.”

EA promises that everything that made Dragon Age 1 such a success will be amplified with part 2.

“BioWare is amplifying the things that made Dragon Age: Origins such a huge success while introducing a more dynamic combat system, improving the graphics, and telling the most important story in our world.”
says Executive Producer Mark Darrah.

BioWare head honcho Ray Muzyka says that “Dragon Age was one of the most successful games in BioWare’s 15-year history and one of the most successful new IP launches in the 28 year history of EA.”

Dragon Age 2 will also be the cover-story for the next issue of Game Informer, which has the world-exclusive full reveal on the title. They also revealed that Dragon Age 2 takes place in a different part of the world of Ferelden and will include “a ton of surprising improvements that will shed even more light on the lore of the Dragon Age universe.” The game will also have an all-new visual style.

BioWare will show off the first video footage of the game at their GamesCom Press Conference next month.
