Splatterhouse was given a brand new trailer at E3 2010. The game will be released on October 26, 2010 for Xbox 360 and PS3 by Namco Bandai.

If you haven’t heard of the series before, the new game is a third-person brawler/action game that is based on the classic franchise of the same name. Which appeared in arcades and for Japanese computers and was ported to other systems such as the TurboGrafx-16 and Genesis (where two sequels were also released). Most recently Splatterhouse 1 and Splatterhouse 2 were re-released for the Wii Virtual Console.

Now it has been revealed, via an E3 stage demo of the new 2010 Splatterhouse, that the game will include unlockable ports of the first three games in the series. However unlike the above versions, these ports will be the complete, uncensored versions in their original form. The other versions, including the TurboGrafx-16 and Genesis releases, were heavily censored and/or altered from the originals.

This will be a huge treat for fans of the classic games or those who never got to play them in all their glory.

The game has players taking up the role of Rick Taylor, who’s life is altered when his girlfriend goes missing while they are exploring a mansion to interview the mad scientist “Dr. West”. When the pair is attacked by monsters and his girlfriend is dragged away, Nick comes across the evil Terror Mask, which turns him into a hulking, monster out for blood (literally). He then sets out to rescue his girlfriend Jeniffer while pulverizing everything in his path in the most violent way possible.

The game features full dismemberment of enemies as well as yourself (you die if you get separated by the mask, so decapitation is bad), an in-depth combat system, gory “Splatter Kills” finishing moves, a mansion that is constantly being corrupted and brought to life organically, and environments where “the more gore/blood the better” is on full display.

Here is a new E3 2010 trailer, which even shows some side-scrolling action!

And here is a stage demo of the game that goes much more in-depth on the game’s features, story, monsters and gameplay.
