Professor Layton and the Unwound Future has a release date of September 12, 2010 on the DS.
It will be released in Australia on September 20th and in Europe on October 22nd, both under the title “Professor Layton and the Lost Future”.
The game is the latest in the Professor Layton series that mixes adventure gaming with diabolical puzzles and brainteasers to solve.
Professor Layton and his apprentice, Luke, receive a confounding letter – from Luke 10 years in the future. But the message inside is even more troubling: London of the future is in disarray, and the only person who can help set things right is Professor Layton.
Here is a trailer for the upcoming game.
Key Features of Professor Layton and the Unwound Future include:
* More than 165 new puzzles weave seamlessly into the storyline. Players will be challenged with fun, brain-teasing logic puzzles and riddles, and even new types of puzzles.
* Professor Layton and the Unwound Future for the DS features significantly more hand-drawn animated sequences and voice acting than the previous installment of the series.
* Players who are still stumped with a puzzle after three subtle hints can select the new “superhint” option to point them toward a solution.
* As with previous incarnations of the franchise, weekly downloadable puzzles will be available after launch for a limited time.
In Japan the game was released two years ago, way back on November 27th of 2008! Where it went by the title, “Professor Layton and the Last Time Travel”. The next game in the series following this one is “Professor Layton and The Specter’s Flute” for DS, which is the first entry in a new trilogy of prequels, which tell the story of how Luke became Professor Layton’s apprentice. Specter’s Flute has yet to be dated for Western release. After that comes “Professor Layton and The Mask of Miracle” for 3DS, the second entry in the prequel series and the fifth game in the series.
