Square Enix has announced that one 16-bit-classic and one modern portable classic remake are coming to Apple’s iPhone/iPod Touch handhelds.
Those games are Secret of Mana (the original SNES three-player RPG) and Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions. Which was a PSP updated remake of the original PS1 Final Fantasy Tactics with absolutely gorgeous artwork.
Here is a teaser trailer for Secret of Mana iPhone. No word on how multiplayer will work or if it’ll be available in this presumed port.
No additional information was revealed on the titles except that they are coming in 2010.
It’s great to see some big-name RPGs getting the iPhone treatment. Even though they are ports, it still brings the system one-step closer to being a true gaming handheld. It’ll be interesting as well to see how these games sell. Both will be released this year.
