PlayStation Plus PSN subscription release date is June 29, 2010

PlayStation Plus revealed. Paid subscription service. Starts June 29, 2010
PlayStation Plus for PSN will start in America on June 29th, 2010 and will add a new “premium” layer of paid-only content for those who subscribe to the service.

Much like how Xbox Live is divided into “Silver” membership (those who don’t pay) and “Gold” membership (those who do pay and get additional features like the ability to play games online), PSN will now also have additional features for those who subscribe. Although sadly any free content you download will no longer work if you unsubscribe. Though thankfully any Trophies you’ve earned from said Plus content will remain with you even if you’re subscription runs out.

The price will be the same as for Xbox Live, $50 for a full year. The difference here is that Sony fans are used to getting all services outside of games and Qore free… so this may be a bitter pill to swallow. But don’t be mistaken, all normal online features including online play will still be free for those who don’t wish to subscribe to PlayStation Plus.

So what are the pricing options?
90 Day Subscription – $18/€15
Yearly Subscription – $50/€49.99

Tailored to enhance the experience for PlayStation users, PlayStation Plus will further enrich the PlayStation Network gaming experience. SCE, with its strong lineup of entertainment content and services on PlayStation Network, will deploy various measures to provide entertainment experience to PlayStation users, and further expand PlayStation platforms.
