EA Sports MMA release date is October 19, 2010. EA Sports Live broadcast debuts

EA Sports MMA release date is October 19, 2010
EA Sports MMA will be released on October 19, 2010 for Xbox 360 and PS3 announced Electronic Arts at their press conference for the Elecronic Entertainment Expo 2010 (otherwise known as E3).

This solid looking Mixed Martial Arts title is set to make some landmark moves in the industry as well as compete very competently with their competitor, the UFC Undisputed series.

First up, Peter Moore (President of EA Sports) came on stage to show off gameplay footage of the new game. In addition to revealing the coverstars as Randy Couture and Fedor Emelianenko, they also discussed how the game aims to showcase the diversity of the sport with worldwide locales to compete in from Thailand to Brazil. They showed off a number of other details on the game as well, which you can watch in the press conference video.

But definitely the most exciting aspect of EA Sports MMA is an all-new EA Sports feature that will be debuting with this title. That feature is known as “EA Sports Live Broadcast”.

Here is the EA Sports MMA on-stage demo and coverage from EA’s E3 2010 press conference. (Skip to the 8:20 mark to see all of the details)

In short (watch the video to see the longer explanation), this groundbreaking feature will allow average gamers to become virtual MMA legends! Stardom, glory and riches can become yours as you compete for real world prizes in virtual competitions that will be broadcast LIVE across all owners (who have online access) of EA Sports MMA who will watch as different players around the world compete in matches.

But this feature goes far beyond pitting faceless virtual people sitting behind a TV screen against each other, as full video and voice options will be available and encouraged, allowing users to not only scan their OWN faces and put them on their customized fighters; But players will also record their own intro videos and even record their own smack talking.

And just to hammer home the authenticity, these matches will be announced by real-life commentators during the actual broadcast fights. They will cover each and every move as you spar with your opponent. “Fight for real world prizes and online fame,” touted Peter Moore who promised that EA Sports MMA will take online social gaming to the “next level” while also offering “The most advanced fighting engine ever created”.

Lofty words and lofty goals, but holy hell if I am not impressed. These features could potentially be incredible and literally re-invent the game and sports video games as we know it. Especially if the real-world prizes manifest into big bucks or high-value items. You could essentially get paid and “online famous” for playing your favorite video game! Color me excited. And I’m not even a fan of videogame sports!
