Space Invaders Infinity Gene coming to consoles (XBLA, PSN)

Space Invaders: Infinite Gene Xbox Live Arcade/PlayStation Network version announced from Square Enix
Space Invaders: Infinity Gene is coming to Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network thanks to Square Enix.

Who announced that they will be publishing the console downloadable versions based on Taito’s iPhone shoot ’em up that was released last year. Pricing and release date details weren’t revealed.

The follow-up to Space Invaders Extreme, Infinity Gene is a vertically-scrolling game that uses an angled 3D perspective similar to classic Taito shooter RayStorm in order to better present the player with all kinds of insanity.

Evolution will be the theme of the game and thus, as you play, the gameplay seamlessly morphs from the original 1978 Space Invaders to a variety of mad alterations, including a bullet-hell shooter form! It also features other twists and updates, as you’d expect with this line of remakes, such as the ability to move your ship all over the screen. And naturally, the game features new 3D concepts along with HD graphics for the modern makeover.

The music meanwhile is being created by Zuntata, Taito’s in-house sound team.
