If you’ve been watching the NBA Finals (Suns vs Lakers for West, Magic vs Celtics for East. GO SUNS!!!!!) you’ve no doubt seen this all-new commercial for Blur (Xbox 360, PS3, PC).
Blur is an Acivision-published, Bizarre Creations-developed (makers of Project Gotham Racing and Geometry Wars) action racer in which realistic cars and polished graphics meet on-course power-ups and projectile weapons ala Mario Kart.
While the game is definitely not of the “Kart-Racer” sub-genre, there is no denying that the game would not exist without the power-up trappings that Mario Kart made famous. And while other action racing games have attempted to mimic the power-up racing action with their own unique spin (remember the Extreme-G series? And of course, Wipeout comes to mind), no one has quite done it the way that Bizarre Creations has with simulation-style cars and insanely realistic graphics.
It’s only fitting then that this new commercial for the game takes target at the series that spawned it. Check out this hilarious commercial that pokes some fun at Mario Kart, and tells its audience to choose Blur so they can “race like a big boy.”
