Looking for a Legend of Zelda 1 walkthrough for the Second Quest and First Quest on NES or Wii? Well, you found it, so let’s get started!

The Legend of Zelda is one of the most popular and best-selling games of all time. It was also one of the most groundbreaking. The Shigeru Miyamoto adventure-classic originally released on the Nintendo Entertainment System and set the groundwork for all action RPGs to come. It featured a vast open-world, hard-to-find puzzle locations and a bevy of items and weapons with which to improve Link’s abilities and enable him to delve further into the land of Hyrule.

Beating the game or typing in your name as “Zelda” at the beginning of the adventure even unlocked a COMPLETELY new and much harder “Second Quest”, which I’ll include in video walkthrough form below the First Quest walkthrough.

The game is available on the NES, on the Game Boy Advance as part of the “NES Classics” line, on the GameCube as part of the “Zelda Collection” and on the Wii Virtual Console where you can download it for a measly $5 bucks!

Summary: Got Magical Shield, Blue Candle, Letter, and a heart container.
Hidden Rupee locations: 100, 30.
Heart containers give an extra heart. Magical Shield will block magical swords and fireballs and everything the regular shield can. The Blue Candle can burn bushes that hide entrances, note that it can be used once per screen. The letter is used to give to the old woman, which lets you buy medicine.

In this video, it shows how to complete Level 3 and the location of Level 4. In this three part video, I get two more pieces of the triforce (Level 3 & 4), two heart containers (from Level 3 & 4), a Raft (from Level 3), a Stepladder (from Level 4), the Magical Sword, Arrows, and the Power Braclet.

Summary:Got Raft which is needed to get to level 4 and to get another heart container. The Stepladder can be used to step over blue spaces in dungeons and to get another heart piece which is shown in part 2. The Magical Sword does twice the damage of the White Sword and four times than that of the Wooden Sword. The Power Braclet is used to push big rocks that reveal transport zones. Not really useful in the first quest, but get it if you want. The Arrows can be bought from a merchant that sells them, some monsters can only be killed by arrows. Note that each arrow fired costs one Rupee.

Summary: Got Level 4 triforce and heart container, I also get two hidden heart containers which gives me a total of twelve. Now I can go get the Magical Sword which is located in the graveyard.

Heading to the Graveyard to get the Magical Sword. There are two ways to get there, one is the way I show in the video and other requires the stepladder. Also the path I chose is better since you don’t need the stepladder. This pathway will become useful in the second quest. Remember the secret path direction North, West, South, West.

I also get the Power Braclet, which is kinda useless in the first quest. It’s much more important in the second quest.

The Legend of Zelda 1 NES walkthrough video guide – First Quest Part 5 (1/2)

Summary: got Recorder, heart container, bomb increase.
Recorder is needed to defeat the Level 5 boss and it’s also needed to find Level 7. The recorder can be used to transport yourself to any dungeon you’ve already completed.
The bomb increase will allow you to carry up to 12 bombs.
Hidden Rupee locations: 30

Heading to dungeon 6.

I beat Level 6 and got another heart container and the Magical Wand. The Magical Wand casts spells (ranged attack) and does the same amount of damage as the White Sword.

Before entering level 7 make sure you have food since it is required. You can buy food for 60 rupees where the Blue Ring was bought. Also make sure you have 100 rupees before entering if you want to get another bomb increase.
Summary: Got another heart container, Red Candle and bomb increase.
The Red Candle allows you to burn more than once per screen, this is good if you want to search every bush on a screen and it can be used as a weapon now. The bomb increase will give you the ability to carry 16 bombs (if you got the increase from level 5 as well).

Summary: got another heart container, Book of Magic, and Magical Key.
The Book of Magic allows the Magical Wand attack to have fire upon impact. The Magical Key basically gives you infinite keys.

The Legend of Zelda 1 NES walkthrough video guide – First Quest Part 8 (1/2)

In this video, I will complete level 9 (Death Mountain). Before entering you should have a red potion just in case. Note that you can’t enter Death Mountain without getting 8 pieces of the triforce.
Summary:Got Red Ring, Silver Arrow and Triforce.
Red Ring cuts damage half of what you took when you had the Blue Ring. The Silver Arrow is needed to finish off Ganon and it does equal damage of the Magical Sword when used on common enemies.
