Dark Void Zero releases for iPhone and Steam on April 12, 2010

Dark Void Zero has gotten a release date of April 12th for PC (via Steam) and iPhone/iPod Touch platforms announced Capcom. Previously the retro 8-bit-styled action platformer was only available on Nintendo’s DSiWare download service for DSi and DSi XL.

This will certainly open up the game (which has received excellent reviews) to a much broader audience, although I wish they’d release it for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network already so that I could get my Achievement Points on. They should just release it for WiiWare as well while they are at it as well.

The game will cost a measly $5 on Steam and a CAN’T-GO-WRONG-BUY-IT-NOW $3 bucks for Apple’s iTunes (where you can purchase it for you iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad).

Thankfully, the game will be getting some cool upgrades for the PC and iPhone versions in case you already bought the DSi version. These include an additional new secret ending to the game, online leaderboards that will track top high scores as well as Speed Runs, and Achievements to earn for both Steam and iPhone platforms!

If you haven’t heard of Dark Void Zero (which was much more well received than it’s big console brother, Dark Void) then here is a trailer for the DSiWare version that’s out now.
