Is an Star Wars: The Old Republic Xbox 360 version in the cards?
According to UK retailer GAME, that just may be the case. The retailer has Old Republic listed on their internal long-term schedule as having an Xbox 360 release for 2011. It was recently pushed back for the PC version to “Spring 2011”.
However, BioWare and publisher EA have both shot down the rumors that the game is heading towards an Xbox 360 release.
“As to why The Old Republic is on that list, we have no idea but to allay any confusion, we should not be on there,” said BioWare community manager Sean Dahlberg on the official Old Republic forums when asked about the GAME listing.
And the developers followed up with this:
“Star Wars: The Old Republic is currently being developed for the personal computer (PC) using the Microsoft Windows operating system. While we recognize that there are other operating systems and platforms available for games today, our development is specific to the personal computer using the Windows operating system at this time.”
At least he ended with “at this time”, so you cannot COMPLETELY discount an Xbox 360 version of the game. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
