Mysteries are afoot as Disney has announced Guilty Party exclusively for the Wii.

In this “mystery party game”, elements are taken from various genres like board games and party games and are fused together to create a unique interactive experience, not-unlike the classic boardgame Clue but in party-game fashion.

The plot follows the Dickens Detective Agency as they solve crimes set in motion by a-one Mr. Valentine.

In the game players will both cooperatively and competitively take turns as virtual detectives, as they set out to use the Wii Remote as a magnifying glass, lock-pick, fingerprint kit and flashlight to get those mysteries resolved.

Although the combination of a weird name like “Guilty Party” and a company like “Disney” may be a turn off to some folks, there is some pedigree behind this game. The developer is Wideload Games, and they are responsible for titles like Stubbs the Zombie and Hail to the Chimp; These guys know strange, witty humor.

“Mysteries are one of the world’s most beloved forms of storytelling, and Guilty Party brings mysteries to Wii in a way that the whole family can play together,” said Tom Kang, head of Wideload Games.

Guilty Party will be released in the second half of 2010.
