Guitar Hero song subscription model being considered by Red Octane

Guitar Hero 6 may get subscription service
A Guitar Hero subscription payment option may soon be a reality according to a new interview with Red Octane co-founder Kai Huang.

When asked about doing a subsciption service for the Guitar Hero series, he replied,

“That’s definitely one of the things we would love to do. There are a lot of issues around music licensing. Customers want it; I know I want it. We’re trying to make that happen.”

As you can probably guess, a subscription model would allow users to be able to download any songs they wanted for a certain price they’d have to pay each month. Or each year, depending on how many subscription options are available and what kind of plans they offer.

But there would apparently be very many potential difficulties in the licensing arena, such as getting the correct rights from musicians, before they’d be able to implement a subscription model.

What do you think about the idea of paying a subscription fee for the ability to download as many songs as you like?
