Tekken 6 is out now for Xbox 360 and PS3
On the eve of the launch of Tekken 6 in Europe, Namco Bandai has revealed that they have shipped over 2.5 million copies of Tekken 6 to retailers worldwide! The game is available on Xbox 360 or PS3.

Tekken 6 brings players the biggest character line up in the series history, a brand-new Scenario Campaign mode, spectacular high-definition 60 frames-per-second visuals with full-time variable animation blur, and an array of online fighting options to the table. You can also get the game bundled with a fight stick or even a PS3 Tekken 6 system bundle in select markets.

In the online arena, Tekken 6 promises lightning fast character reaction times and consistent 60fps visuals. Features include Ranked Match, Player Match for training, the ability to upload ghost characters and match replays, and leaderboards for Europe, Asia, America and the world. Coming this winter via a free downloadable update, the online Scenario Campaign mode will let players team up with friends around the globe for an intense two player online co-op campaigns against AI controlled enemies in massive-scale battles.

And players who want to show off their fighting skills in front of an audience can take part in the real King of Iron Fist Tournament, with public Tekken 6 competition events taking place since early October across Europe and Australia. The winners from each country will come together to compete in a grand regional final in London on December 12th to establish once and for all the true Tekken god.

“This is a big day for us. The European market and fans have always been very important to the success of TEKKEN so we’re thrilled that TEKKEN 6 will finally be in their hands today,” said Katsuhiro Harada, TEKKEN Project Director, NAMCO BANDAI Games Inc. “More than 50% of TEKKEN fans worldwide are from Europe and their feedback has played a crucial role in helping to shape the game. Reflecting this, many of the new characters added are from Europe. I hope everyone enjoys TEKKEN 6 and that they continue to support the franchise, and I look forward to seeing you all online.”

To date the Tekken franchise has sold over 34 million units across its 14-year legacy ever since it made it’s debut on the original PlayStation way back in 1995. And now in 2009 Tekken 6 is available for the first time on multiple platforms with the Xbox 360 release.

Here is a preview for more information on Tekken 6, which is out now and releases on the PSP on November 24th, 2009.

Personally I lost touch with the series after it’s first PS2 entry in Tekken Tag. After being a huge fan of Tekken 3, which is still the high water mark as far as I’m concerned. We’ll have to see if this new one can regain my interest. I remember fondly the days of Tekken 3 though, a game that we played as much if not more so than Super Smash Bros. on the N64, and a game that all sorts of people from casual to hardcore would huddle around the TV playing into the wee hours of the morning. Back in the days before online play.
