The Who Rock Band next in line for band-based The Beatles: Rock Band follow-up?

The Who Rock Band coming?
The Who: Rock Band may be the next The Beatles: Rock Band-style full band game.

This according to a new interview with Roger Daltry, the lead singer of The Who, in an article by The Republican newspaper.

Daltry was asked about the recently released The Beatles: Rock Band and his thoughts on that, and replied: “The game, yeah, yeah, they’re going to be doing a Who one next year. There is one planned.”

This is anything but official, and it’s impossible to know if he has inside information, or even if the standalone game he is referring to is in fact just a downloadable song-pack or a side-project like the AC/DC Rock Band Track Pack.

However Harmonix has worked closely with The Who since the original Rock Band (Their album “Who’s Next” was one of the first full album download reveals, the band also played a surprise set at E3 2008’s Rock Band 2 party, etc.), so it would make sense in that regard.

But the biggest knock against a full “The Who: Rock Band” game is the fact that many of their songs have already been released at the Rock Band store.

And of course, there are many other band rumors around as to who will be next in line after The Beatles, including “U2: Rock Band” and “Queen: Rock Band” among other rumors.

While Daltry’s statement about the game left room for interpretation and confirmation, his endorsement of rhythm games was definitely nice to hear.

“Anything that gets nonmusical people interested in music is wonderful,” Daltry said. “In my opinion, music is our last true great freedom. They can burn our books, they can burn our paintings, but they can’t stop us singing and making music.”
