Capcom’s 2009 Bionic Command soundtrack has been released thanks to Nile Rodgers’ Sumthing Distribution record label. It is now available to purchase.

The soundtrack includes 20 tracks and can be bought in physical form at various retail outlets or you can download the Bionic Commando soundtrack on either iTunes or Sumthing Digital Music Works. And the great thing is that it will only cost you $10 to do so.

Composer Jamie Christopherson told 1UP the following regarding his work on Bionic Commando, “I remember playing Bionic Commando back on the NES and like everyone else I was blown away by the quality of the music. Not only were there extremely ‘hummable’ epic melodies, but the use of the MIDI chip to create a very dense and complicated orchestral arrangement was astonishing. If someone would have told me that 20 years later I would be working on a next generation Bionic Commando game, I would never have believed them. I was fortunate enough to take the music (including the famous main theme) and give it a modern treatment, complete with an anthemic 15-piece brass ensemble.”

If you are a fan of videogame music in general or Bionic Commando in particular, do yourself a favor and pick up the soundtrack. We need to support the guys who are putting their hard work into creating this music for us to enjoy and selling it to us in this form. As an aside, I think it’s great that these videogame soundtracks are now all being offered digitally. I think people are much more likely to purchase videogame music digitally than buy a physical CD because it is so easy to do so. And cheaper too as there is no shipping involved.

For me personally though I’m all about growing that physical CD collection in my room. So if you are someone who does enjoy getting the physical item then definitely think about purchasing them. Because if you don’t, we may be in a world soon where these kind of niche game soundtracks are ONLY offered digitally. -end rant-
