A Dead Space movie is in the works with director D.J. Caruso who created the film Eagle Eye with Shia LaBeouf. It will be produced by Electronic Arts themselves in partnership with Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, who are also producing Microsoft’s Gears of War movie with New Line.
The movie does not yet have a screenwriter but once the movie has one EA will be all set to ship it around to prospective movie studios who will be interested in the project and auction it off to the highest bidder. They are aiming to have a studio attached by early September.
Dead Space is the fifth EA title that is being made into a movie feature. Aside from the “Dante’s Inferno” film that will be produced by Strike Entertainment partners Eric Newman and Marc Abraham, EA is in business with Universal on “Army of Two,” with Scott Z. Burns (“The Bourne Ultimatum”) scripting and Scott Stuber producing. EA’s “The Sims” is being developed by producer John Davis and “Mass Effect” by “Spider-Man” producer Avi Arad.
In total there are no less than 44 games being made into movies.
