Metal Gear Solid: Rising was revealed for Xbox 360 by Konami Producer Hideo Kojima at Microsoft’s E3 2009 Press Conference with the tagline “Lightning Bolt Action”.

The game is the first Metal Gear Solid title to launch on Xbox 360 and will star Raiden, “one of the most popular characters from the Metal Gear Solid universe”, says the press release. Raiden first debuted in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty as a playable character and appeared as a non-playable cyborg in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

“The Metal Gear Solid series is one of the most highly acclaimed video game franchises of all time,” said Anthony Crouts, Vice President of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. “With Metal Gear Solid: Rising, the Xbox 360 community will finally get a chance to enjoy the action and excitement that this popular franchise is known to offer.” No further details on the single player game were given, but it’s assumed from the tagline that it will be more action-centered.

Although the game was only announced for Xbox 360, at least one site (Game Press) has the game listed as coming to PC and PS3 as well. Microsoft however insisted that the game was indeed an Xbox 360 exclusive. No release date was yet announced for the title.
