The developers behind Wii-exclusive FPS The Conduit have announced their newest game. An all-new fighting game IP, exclusively for Wii, called “Gladiator AD”.

The game is a brutally realistic gladiatorial fighting game that will take Mortal Kombat on in the brutality department (complete with Finishing Moves) but from a realistic angle.

The developers at High Voltage Software promise that the game will “redefine the fighting game genre on the Wii.”

“The game features an unmatched graphic fidelity, enthralling musical score, and strategic combat. This, coupled with the familiar setting and intuitive controls, is what sets it apart from anything ever released,” design director David Pellas told IGN. “This game is brutally violent, but is not Mortal Kombat. There is no over-the-top spine ripping. It’s authentic, not ridiculous. We do have finishers, which can get pretty nasty to watch, though.” They likened the game to a cross between Bushido Blade and Fight Night. Quite the interesting combo.

Additionally they say it will contain, “humiliation, execution and brutality moves.” High Voltage called the combat itself a cross between Bushido Blade and Fight Night.

“There is no button-mashing here”, Pellas explained. But the game will also have environmental hazards, such as lions. Naturally. Given that it is named “Gladiator”.

The game will also include support for the Wii MotionPlus accessory.

No other details were released on the game, such as whether it will include online support, but more information and screenshots/video of the game will no doubt be released at E3 2009.
