Guitar Hero 5, Guitar Hero: Van Halen, DJ Hero and Band Hero have all officially been confirmed by Activision. The announcement comes a month before E3 2009 which kicks off June 2nd through the 4th, where we will undoubtedly learn much more information about the above titles.

As for the current announcement, Guitar Hero 5 is the sequel to Guitar Hero: World Tour and will include “the ability to drop in and out of songs and change band members, instruments and difficulty levels on the fly.” No other information was given on the game other than a “Fall 2009” release date.

Band Hero is a game you likely have been confused about. And the clarification is this: Band Hero will be a “youth oriented” Guitar Hero game that is rated E10+ and will go head-to-head this Fall against Harmonix’s Lego Rock Band, which is the competing kid-friendly music title. Expect Band Hero to be full of teen pop with the likes of The Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus pretty much assured.

DJ Hero is entirely separate from “Guitar Hero” and is, as you’d expect, a turn-table-based music game. DJ Hero will feature “diverse music genres including hip-hop, R&B, Motown, electronica and dance” and will include the instrument in the photo above. The game aims to “transform players into DJs who rule the club scene by creating original mixes of popular songs and music from the world’s most exciting artists and DJs.”

Last but not least, the long-rumored Guitar Hero: Van Halen will continue the band-centric line following the previous Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and Guitar Hero: Metallica releases and is due this year. Guitar Hero: Van Halen will contain Van Halen’s “greatest hits,” as well as guest acts such as Queen, Weezer, blink-182, The Offspring, Queens of the Stone Age, and more.
