Shadow of the Colossus movie in development at Sony Pictures

Shadow of the Colossus movie coming. Random awesome artwork

Sony has started the ball rolling in bringing the beloved PS2 game Shadow of the Colossus to the big-screen.

The movie adaptation is being set up by Sony Pictures producer Kevin Misher (The Intepreter, The Rundown) and is being written by Justin Marks (Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, Disney’s upcoming 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea).

It’s interesting to note that Shadow of the Colossus was published by Sony Computer Entertainment which makes this a rare example of content moving between the game and movie sections of a huge company.

Apparently Sony is also planning on this game being a huge Lord of the Rings style production and as such will be giving some of the game’s lesser known characters (such as those who try to track down and stop the game’s main character) bigger roles in the film.

However the film is still in the earliest stages and is a long way from actually being in production. So don’t hold your breath.

So what do you think about a movie of Shadow of the Colossus. Good idea? Or bad idea. Personally, I’m not sure about the name’s already attached to the project . . .
