Bandai Namco has announced several new games in the “Tales” series of RPGs. PlayStation system owners will be getting two games, however Nintendo fans come out truly on top with the next true entry in the series.
First up is the announcement that Tales of Vesperia is coming to PlayStation 3. This updated version will include new features not found in the previously released Xbox 360 version including at least one all-new character. It will be hitting store shelves in Japan later this year. No announcement yet on releases outside the Land of the Rising Sun but it’s likely.
Sony fans will also be getting Tales of VS for the PSP. This game is literally a Tales fighting game that follows in the footsteps of Square’s Final Fantasy Dissidia. However it one-ups Square by offering four-player brawling in the game’s 3D environments. And like Dissidia it will take characters from all the various Tales games and put them in one fighting game title. Tales of VS will also be releasing this year.
Finally, Tales fans and Wii owners alike will be excited to hear that Tales of Graces in the next proper entry in the Tales series and will be arriving exclusively on Nintendo Wii.
Tales of Graces will feature cel-shaded graphics with the same real-time battles that fans are accustomed to. Here are a few more early details. So far the game has only been announced for Japan and will be out this Winter.
* Aspel Rant is the game’s main character.
* Aspen is an 18-year-old who lives just outside of a kingdom.
* An unnamed event takes place that leaves Aspel desiring strength
* The game’s main theme revolves around protecting people or defending them. So “Protect” and “Defend”.
* Quote attributed to Aspel – “I don’t want to lose anyone again.”
* The game will have a “large” story.
* Tales of Graces WILL feature new gameplay elements to the series.
* Due for release this Winter in Japan.
