Activision has announced an all-new Transformers game called Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen which will be released on PS3, PS2, PSP, Xbox 360, Wii, DS and PC. An exact date was not announced but it’s most likely going to released on or close-to the date of the Shia LaBeouf-starred second film Transformers 2 which is set for release in theaters on June 26th.

The game allows you to play as either the Autobots (good guys) or the Decepticons (bad guys) with a cast of characters that Activision is calling “the largest, most diverse range of playable Transformers.” All of the various characters will feature their own specific abilities as well as their own unique weaponry to differentiate them from one another.

Locations will include Cairo and Shanghai and as players are stomping through the game’s various environments they will be able to switch between the vehicle and biped forms of their Transformer on the fly.
In addition to single-player gamers will be able to hop online to battle other players in new multiplayer modes.

Various versions of the game are being developed by different companies as you’d expect. The PS3 and Xbox 360 version are being developed by Luxoflux, the PC version is being developed by Beenox Studios, the Wii and PS2 versions are being developed by Krome Studios, the DS version is being developed by Vicarious Visions and finally the PSP version is being developed by Savage Entertainment. PHEW!

“The Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen videogame will give fans the chance to experience their favorite Autobots and Decepticons in an all-new, movie-inspired adventure packed with the thrilling and explosive action that only the Transformers universe can deliver,” said Rob Kostich, vice president of global brand management, Activision, Inc. “We are thrilled to announce that after experiencing the rush of commanding colossal robots on their own, players can challenge their friends for the first time ever in full-featured, blistering multiplayer action as their favorite characters.”
