Watch all Street Fighter 4 Ultra Moves / Combos

Pre-Order Street Fighter 4 on PS3What’s even cooler than a special move in a fighting game like Street Fighter IV? ULTRA MOVES. Naturally.

While they can’t exactly match up to the bloody mess of a Fatality or Finishing Move, Ultra Moves still give you some extremely “BOO-YA!” moments when you successfully pull them off and your character unleashes a flurry of attacks to pulverize your opponent. Who then runs crying to their mama.

In Street Fighter 4 your characters can pull these moves off by using your Revenge Gauge which fills up as you take damage from your opponent. You can then unleash your Ultra Move (officially termed “Ultra Combo”) which will unleash a flurry of attacks on your opponent as the camera pans up, out and around your character to show off the snazzy new 3D graphics and leave your opponent reeling.

Which character’s Ultra Move is your favorite?

Additionally, it has been revealed that Street Fighter 4 will feature a “Trial Mode” that is really a tutorial that will teach you how to play the game all the way from a beginner to advanced techniques.

To be more specific, the game starts you out with normal moves, then teaches you Specials, then moves on to Supers, then to Ultra Combos, Two-in-one combos, chains into Specials, links into Specials and finally, it shows you how to put it all together in an actual fight.

Not only is the Trial Mode a challenge, but it’s goal is to take a beginner who’s never played the game before and allow them to learn how to play well enough to even challenge pros and put them onto a level playing field.

A very cool mode if you ask me, as I’ve been out of the fighting game scene for quite a long time myself. I was really big into Super Street Fighter II back in the day and a giant Mortal Kombat Trilogy fan. So I am hoping that Street Figher 4 will make me into a modern Street Fighter fan, something that more complex fighters from Street Fighter 3rd Strike to Soul Caliber 4 to Capcom VS SNK 2 didn’t do for me.

So I’m definitely looking forward to Street Fighter 4!
