Rock Band 2 for Wii releasing on December 18th. Now compatible with previous Wii instruments

Rock Band 2 for WiiRock Band 2 for Wii will be releasing on December 18th which is two months after it was released on the Xbox 360.

Harmonix posted an open apology for the delay in getting the Wii version out, saying that the extra development time was crucial in making sure the Wii version was as good as it could be and up to snuff when compared to the console versions. They state that because of the delay, the Wii versions is “the definitive full band experience on that platform.”

“We want to apologize for the delay in getting RB2 onto the Wii,” said Harmonix. “We believe that Wii is an amazing and unique fit for Rock Band 2, and one that we care deeply about getting right.”

A huge reason for the delay was to ensure that the Wii version would work with other instruments that have been released for the Wii console previously, such as those from Guitar Hero 3 and Guitar Hero World Tour. And reportedly it will work with any controllers you have.

“We can confirm that this game is compatible with other existing instrument controllers available for Wii for both guitar and drums,” the post reads. “Even if you’ve picked up another full band game, you can grab Rock Band 2 in its standalone software format, buying individual instruments and the disc itself to customize your band.”

Very good news for Wii owners.
