The classic boxing franchise returns exclusively for Wii with Ready 2 Rumble Revolution, an all-new cartoony boxing game; scheduled for release in March 2009 from publisher Atari.

This newest installment is the first one for Wii and will retain all the features players know and love from Ready 2 Rumble Boxing Round 1 and Ready to Rumble Boxing Round 2, but this time tailored to take advantage of the Wii Remote and Nunchuck’s motion-sensing possibilities.

Developed by famed boxing company AKI, Ready 2 Rumble Revolution features 18 “wildly caricatured cartoony boxers” who are all based on celebrities from the music, movie and sport world and will feature the famous “Let’s Get Ready to Rumble!” trademark call of Michael Buffer who will host the game.

Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2 on PS2According to Atari the game will feature “hilarious moves, detailed facial animations, damage textures and fighting techniques including special moves, combos, extreme knockdowns and special “Rumble” combos.” There is also a new Championship Mode which lets players create their own boxer and then nature his skills via mini-games that will develop him as a fighter and create a “completely personalized Ready 2 Rumble Revolution experience.”

Naturally, players will use the Wii Remote & Nunchuck like actual boxing gloves (like in Wii Sports Boxing) and duck, dodge, weave and throw punches with them to Knock Out their opponents in both single-player or multiplayer modes. The game will feature five environments to box in, from Las Vegas to the “backstreet gym” and will feature “advanced AI” to allow for “more strategic fights.”

“Ready 2 Rumble Revolution is poised to take back he title as the undisputed champion of arcade boxing games and we hope to reach an even bigger audience than ever thanks to the huge popularity of Wii,” said Phil Harrison, President of Infogrames, the parent company of Atari. “The outrageous celebrity caricatures paired with a fun boxing experience made even more over-the-top thanks to the Wii controllers will make the newest version of this famed franchise a must-have for all fans of boxing and physical fun on Wii.”
