How Angelina Jolie explains game violence to her kids

It was recently revealed that Angelina Jolie plays Let’s Pilates for the DS. And that wasn’t the only video game related thing she revealed.

She also went on to mention that she does in fact allow her kids to play video games, but that she has talked to them about the different between fantasy and reality so that they can distinguish between what’s on the screen and what would cause harm in the real world.

As MSNBC reports, Jolie, talking to Harper’s Bazaar, said this: “My kids play video games. I let them play with toy soldiers. We don’t take war and violence lightly, but we don’t hide it from anybody.”

Although it’s a normal thing for parents to teach their kids the difference between reality and fantasy, I imagine it has to be exasperated more so for Angelina, who has stared in violent films herself as well as played video game heroine Lara Croft in two Tomb Raider movies.

On that note, Angelina talked about how she explains the difference between her on-screen characters and real-world violence to her kids: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh and eventually to Knox and Vivienne: “We say, ‘Mommy and daddy have movies where we play these characters, but there’s real death and violence in the world.’”
