Grindhouse-like The House of the Dead: Overkill trailer

Pre-Order The House of the Dead Overkill for WiiThe House of the Dead: Overkill does Grindhouse in a new trailer that shows off this newest game in the classic House of the Dead lightgun shooter series.

Overkill is scheduled for release on February 10th, 2009, exclusively for the Wii and is a prequel to the first House of the Dead game. You play as series protagonist Special Agent G as he is given his first assignment fresh out of the AMS academy. He teams up with the hard-boiled Detective Washington as they are sent to investigate a series of mysterious disappearances in a small town in Louisiana (not in Raccoon City, this isn’t Resident Evil). But of course, little do they know about the blood-soaked mutant depravity that awaits them in the streets and swamps of Bayou City!

Naturally, you use the Wii Remote to shoot the enemies on the screen like in The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return. A new ability includes the slowing of time, which enhances your opportunity to perform headshots. The game also uses the motion sensing Wii Remote to initiate melee attacks. And a new “Battle Screen” promises to add challenge to the game by expanding the camera beyond your view of the screen, which forces players to move their point of view. In addition, the game features two player co-operative play on the same screen, and supports the Wii Zapper that came with Link’s Crossbow Training and Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles.
