An EverQuest: Seeds of Destruction Expansion and EverQuest 2: The Shadow Odyssey Expansion, have been announced by Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) at Sony’s annual Fan Faire convention in Las Vegas.

The EverQuest 2: The Shadow Odyssey Expansion (which is the fifth core expansion for the game) has a release date of November 18th. It will add over twenty new zones and 60 new achievement points, bringing the total to 200. The game will also start to play on players own nostalgia regarding the game’s history and it’s world and themes; such as Najena, Mistmoore and The Sebilisian Empire, and allow players to adventure through over 18 goal-based dungeons.

As far as EverQuest: Seeds of Destruction is concerned, it will be released on October 21st and is the fifteenth core expansion for the long-running MMO that is still just as successful today. That is according to SOE chief John Smedley, who said that the original EverQuest “is still going as strong as ever. We’re very dedicated to the game, and we’re coming up to a milestone I never expected to see – the tenth anniversary.”

Seed of Destruction will send gamers on an adventure through numerous portals that will take them back to various iconic moments from the history of EverQuest, further playing up the nostalgia factor that fans have with the game and it’s universe. As far as major gameplay additions, Seeds will see Mercenaries added to the game. These are player-controlled NPCs (Non-Player Characters) who you can pay to fight in battles alongside you.

And for all those lucky people who got to attend the Fan Faire event, they all received both expansion packs as free digital downloads! Now that’s definitely how you keep your fanbase happy.

You can also keep them happy by giving all those fans who weren’t able to attend new trailers. Check out the one for EverQuest 2: The Shadow Odyssey above. And the EverQuest: Seeds of Destruction trailer below.
