How to get Brett Favre’s uniform from Packers to Jets?
For online consoles (confirmed for Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii) EA Sports will release a roster patch the Monday before the game is released in stores with all the changes that have been made in the off-season since the game went final. As a result, Brett Favre will go from a Green Bay Packer to a New York Jets. Just as Jason Taylor will be a Redskin instead of a member of the Miami Dolphins. The roster update is not mandatory – unless you are planning an online head to head game, or online league. A second roster update will be released before the start of the regular football season.

Get a new game box cover with Brett Favre in a Jets jersey.
At release the game will still features quarterback Brett Favre in a Packers jersey on the cover. Fans looking to change that into a Jets jersey, will soon be able to get that new downloadable cover insert via the official Madden website. You can then print this new cover out and insert it into the case of Madden NFL 09.

Cheat to train easier.
You can make depth chart changes to make training players easier. For example, if you are training someone on defense, such as a linebacker, go to the depth chart and substitute the running back for someone with a lower rating. This will make things easier when you do the lineman challenge. You can use this trick to help train almost any position. — Thanks Adam.

Video Introduction: Getting started with Madden 09.
A run through of all the new features in this year’s game with tons of gameplay to explain each feature.

Madden 09 IQ Test demonstration video.
Madden NFL 09 is a game for the masses and is constantly monitoring your performance. No matter if you are a long-time Madden player or a rookie, an all-new Adaptive Difficulty Engine assesses your proficiency in the core skill areas of football, then tailors the experience to match your playing style. John Madden gives a demonstration of the IQ Tests for Rush/Pass Offense/Defense.

Madden 09 Play Tips On Rewind and Back Track at Locas Oil Stadium.
The rewind and backtrack features are two new Madden features that bring an entirely new dimension to gameplay. The rewind feature is essentially a football mulligan that lets you try a play over again if it fails. You can rewind any play, whether on offense or defense; however, as we found out, the CPU will not necessarily run the exact same play again when on offense. For example, we were defending a goal-line stand against the Steelers during one game, when Pittsburgh ran a sweep left with Willie Parker that resulted in a touchdown. After rewinding the game to try the play over again, we cheated our linebackers to the left, but the Steelers adjusted and put Parker up the middle, a clear case of the game being cleverer than the player. Rewind is an interesting feature, but it’s easy to see how using rewind too much could be tempting. Luckily you’ll be able to set the maximum number of times you can use the rewind in the game (or turn it off altogether).

The new backtrack feature seems more like a legitimate teaching tool in Madden 09. Here, the game will give you a full breakdown of a play that you blew, complete with on-field graphics and voice-over explanation from Madden 09 color analyst Cris Collinsworth (one half of the Madden play-by-play team, which also includes Tom Hammond). These backtrack moments will happen during one of three scenarios: 1) If you thrown an interception when another receiver is open; 2) If your quarterback is sacked when an open receiver is available; 3) If you make a bad play call. Further, a “bad play call” is defined as a pass defense going up against a run offense, or a run defense going up against a pass offense that results in a big play. The amount of information shown during these backtrack segments is impressive, including breakdowns of all of the players involved in the play and percentages of success that a particular play had for succeeding. If you pay attention to everything Collinsworth has to say about the play, you’ll have a good understanding of what you did wrong so that you might avoid that same mistake in the future.

More gameplay tips from the Madden 09 team.
Producer Ryan Ferwerda gives the lowdown on the features that make this year’s Madden is the best looking sports game in the series yet. The game’s got a new look and feel thanks to an enhanced graphics engine and new player models, lineman battle in the trenches with more bulky physiques while backs and receivers fly around the field with a more sleek and slimmer look. The game features the most realistic-looking grass and field turf ever in a sports game, new weather and stadium lighting effects, and active exterior stadium views.
