Mirror’s Edge comic in the making at DC

Pre-Order Mirror's Edge on PCA Mirror’s Edge Comic Book series is coming via DC Comic’s “Wildstorm” imprint, as announced at Comic-Con 2008 today by EA.

The series will be a six-parter and will seek to flesh out the backstory from Stockholm-based EA DICE’s upcoming first-person action adventure game in which you play as a Runner named Faith who must attempt to deliver information physically due to the radar-heavy government who tries to squash communication that it objects to. The comic books will delve more deeply into the character of Faith and her past as a Runner. In the game you control Faith from a realistic first-person perspective, where you can see her arms and legs as she must free-run up obstacles and jump from building to building.

The first issue of the Mirror’s Edge comic is already available at this week’s Comic-Con International convention in San Diego. Which means it’ll likely be released in stores soon.

The Mirror’s Edge comic is being handled by video game writer Rhianna Pratchett (Heavenly Sword, Overlord), who will be doing the comic’s story, while the artwork will be done by Matthew Dow Smith (Supernatural: Origins and various StormWatch issues).

This serves as the latest link between DC Comics and video games. The company also created comic books based off of Gears of War, and the upcoming Prototype. They also recently announced and showed their upcoming PS3 and PC MMO DC Universe Online. Finally, DC Comics characters will be battling it out with the MK cast in Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe.
