Rock Revolution music-rhythm game announced by Konami

Rock Revolution is Konami’s upcoming take on the popular music-rhythm-game genre that was popularized by Guitar Hero and Rock Band, from a company that created the genre with games like Dance Dance Revolution, Drum Mania and Guitar Freaks before it exploded.

And this time they are directly taking on the Guitar Hero/Rock Band-style with their own game, although Rock Revolution will be more focused on the drums than guitar, even though it will include both drum and guitar peripheral. Releasing for the Xbox 360, PS3, DS and Wii, each version has it’s own play style. The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will come with their own specialized peripherals, while the Wii version will use the Wii Remote & Nunchuck for a “air-drum and air-guitar experience” while the DS version will utilize gestures performed via the stylus on the DS touchscreen. The DS version will also support vocals using the DS microphone.

Like the upcoming Guitar Hero World Tour, the game will also include a mode in which players can create their own tracks, along with a free form mode that lets players experiment with their musical instrument of choice.

Rock Revolution is unrelated to Konami’s other guitar and drum simulation games, DrumMania and Guitar Freaks (as mentioned above), which have been popular in Japan as well as in North America through importing.
